AT IN CUISINE

Sign up for one of two culinary themed excursions.  Learn the secret of French cuisine in a local cooking atelier in Lyon. Get hands-on knowledge in some of the most famous dishes of this region and gain skills that will impress your family, friends, and future travel companion.

TOUR OF LES HALLES MARKET IN LYON

Built in 1971 as the city of Lyon’s commitment to gastronomy, Les Halles Paul Bocuse has a reputation as one of the finest places for food anywhere. Join your host, Tara O’Brady, for a visit to the market and learn about its history and some of the produce on hand is dubbed the best in the world.

HUNT EXPERIENCE

Or visit a culinary school owned by three-star Michelin Chef, Georges Blanc for a cooking demonstration. After the cooking demonstration guests will have the opportunity to visit village museum, the Museum has been loving created by Georges Blanc in dedication to his family who have lived and worked in this region of France for 150 years, with his great-grandparents first settling in Vonnas in 1872 where they opened a lemonade cafe.

Today you can choose from two culinary excursions; after visiting Cluny Abbey, meet a local truffle farmer and his dog, and learn the tricks and techniques of Truffle farming before enjoying a tasting of his delicious produce.

DAY SIX

PRIVATE RECEPTION AT TOURNON CASTLE

As we arrive in Tournon, it is hard to miss the Château de Tournon, built in the 1500s. A short walk from the dock, the castle will be the site of a special sundown reception, on the open terrace, with views of steeped vineyards of Tain-l’Hermitage across the water. Enjoy champagne, wine and hors d’oeuvres, a performance by local classical musicians and relish the beautiful view, while mingling with Globe journalists and fellow guests.

AVIGNON, FRANCE

DAY EIGHT

PRIVATE RECEPTION AND CONCERT AT THE POPE’S PALACE

Be treated to a truly unforgettable experience at the prestigious Pope’s Palace of Avignon, among the most visited sites in France. Enjoy a private reception and classical concert exclusively for Globe and Mail Cruise guests in one the palace’s grandiose rooms where former Popes hosted private dinners for special guests and dignitaries in the 14th century.

SHOP WITH THE CHEF IN AVIGNON MARKET

Today’s choice of culinary themed excursion is a Shop with the Chef Market Tour. Join Cruise Culinary Host, Tara O’Brady and the Scenic Head Chef, as they visit a local food market in Avignon and shop for fresh produce in preparation for an onboard culinary lesson.

ARLES, FRANCE

DAY NINE

Visit a local Olive Farm where you will learn the techniques of Olive Oil production. Following this visit head to the charming village of Fontvieille where you will meet with a local who will discuss life in this region as well as divulge traditional Provencal recipes.
