Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to you when you book The Globe and Mail Travel Egypt Tour being provided by Worldwide Quest International Inc. and to anyone else on whose behalf you make a booking (and you confirm you are authorized to bind them to these terms). Any additional tour policies and guidelines that are made available to you from time-to-time supplement and form part of these terms. The Globe and Mail Inc. is only a sponsor of the tour: it provides certain value-added cultural content on the tour (for example journalist presence and lectures) and is not a travel provider, travel supplier or travel agent. The tour provider, Worldwide Quest, is a company wholly independent of The Globe.

Tour Cost Includes

  • 3-night accommodation at the Ritz Carlton Cairo at the Residence with daily breakfast at hotel and lunch during land excursions in Cairo.
  • Intra-Egypt return economy flights from Cairo to Luxor.
  • Welcome reception on Day 2 of the tour.
  • Land excursions as noted in the detailed itinerary during the duration of the cruise-tour with the exception of the tour of Abu Simbel that is an additional cost. Further details on the Abu Simbel, click here.
  • Daily excursions
    • Day 2: Great Egypt Museum or Egyptian Museum and Pyramids of Giza
    • Day 4: Valley of Kings and Queens, Tomb of Queen Nefertiti, Luxor
    • Day 5: Temple of Horus, Edfu
    • Day 6: Felucca ride around Elephanta Island, Aswan
    • Day 7: Nubian Village Visit and Philae Temple, Aswan, Great Temple of Kom Ombo, Kom Ombo
    • Day 8: Karnak Temple Visit, Art of Papyrus Making, Luxor Temple and Market visit

  • Transfers (in each direction) to/ from the hotel in Cairo and the airport for flight to Luxor, Luxor airport to the vessel and reverse, transfer from airport in Cairo to hotel and hotel in Cairo to airport.
  • Aboard AmaDahlia:
  • a. 7-night deluxe cruise accommodation during the cruise b. Full board daily meals on board AmaDahlia including Captain’s Welcome Cocktail Reception and Dinner c. Choice of dining options at no additional cost including the main dining salon and an intimate Al Fresco Chef’s Table Restaurant where the Chef prepares the meal in person

Tour Cost Does Not Include

  • Pre- and/or post-Egypt land extension in addition to the 10-night cruise-tour, other than noted in the detailed itinerary.
  • Roundtrip International flights from Canada to Egypt and all visa costs.
  • Beverages other than those include on a complimentary basis during the cruise portion at lunch and dinner and other than the 24-hour coffee / tea station.
  • Laundry, salon and spa services, shop purchases and other personal expenses.
  • Optional shore excursions that might be offered in addition to our daily included shore excursion program.
  • Travel insurance.
  • Any item not mentioned in ‘Includes’ above.

Payments

A non-refundable deposit of $3000 per person is required to book this tour. The balance of payment is due by December 6, 2023. Payments may be made by cash, cheque or credit card (VISA or MasterCard) in Canadian dollars. Verbal authorization for use of your credit card for deposit confirms your reservation and indicates your acceptance and compliance with our terms and conditions. If the balance is not paid in full by the due date, we will regard the booking as cancelled.

Travel Insurance

We urge you to ensure that you have adequate cancellation and trip interruption insurance to protect your payments should you need to cancel your participation unexpectedly or should the tour be inoperable per our terms and conditions. Medical coverage is mandatory. We recommend that all tour participants ensure that coverage includes “COVID-19” Travel Insurance.

Tour Pricing

Tour prices are listed per person, based on double occupancy. Tour costs and inclusions are listed in the Detailed Itinerary for each tour. Worldwide Quest tries its utmost not to increase tour prices; however, sometimes increases are beyond our control. Worldwide Quest reserves the right, as governed by the Ontario Travel Industry Act, to amend tour prices (or any part) for reasons such as, but not limited to, increased fuel costs, airfares, airport charges or increases in ground operator fees. Any increase in tour price must be paid prior to the departure date. Please note: If the tour cost increases by more than 7%, you have the option of paying the full price increase or receiving a full refund.

Cancellation

If you decide to cancel your trip, you must notify Worldwide Quest immediately and in writing. If you cancel your tour for any reason prior to your departure date, you will be liable for the following cancellation fee:

  • Cancellation prior to October 1, 2023:    C$1500 per person

  • Cancellation between October 1 and December 5, 2023:     C$3000 per person

  • Cancellation on or after December 6, 2023:     100% of the amount paid


The tour price is quoted as a package and no partial refunds will be given for services not used.

Airfares

Flights are not included in the cost of this tour. Worldwide Quest would be pleased to assist you with your flight arrangements. Please contact us for details. Worldwide Quest cannot be held responsible for flight arrangements. Please do not make any non-refundable air arrangements until the trip is confirmed as operating. Participants should note that Worldwide Quest cannot accept any responsibility for the late arrival of such flights and that any such delay could result in missing the tour departure or in incurring additional expenses. The participant is responsible for notifying Worldwide Quest of any delay or change in air itinerary.

Health & Fitness Requirements

Participants must be 19 years of age or older to join this tour. Participants are responsible to ensure they are fit for their chosen trip.

Worldwide Quest may require a medical questionnaire to be completed and returned to us as proof that you are fit to participate in this tour. In addition, the tour leader may, during the tour, direct any participant to withdraw from the tour, if he or she believes that participant is incapable, or that the participant’s continued participation in the tour will adversely affect that participant, or other tour participants, or the success of the tour. No refund will be payable in these circumstances. Medical and evacuation expenses are the responsibility of the participant.

A good level of fitness is important for this trip. You must be comfortable walking on uneven terrain and irregular paving and climbing stairs. Visits to the archaeological sites involve walking over rough and uneven ground. There are some early starts. The heat during the day can be tiring.

Participants are responsible to ensure they are fit for this tour. You should consult your physician to confirm your fitness for travel and participation in any planned activities. You should seek your physician’s advice on vaccinations and medical precautions. Worldwide Quest does not provide medical advice. It is your responsibility to assess the risks and requirements of each aspect of this trip based on your own unique circumstances, limitations, fitness level and medical requirements.

Group Participation

You are responsible for respecting the authority and following the directions of the Tour Manager and the laws of the jurisdictions in your Itinerary during a Tour. We may exclude you from participating in all or any part of the Tour if, in our sole discretion, your condition or behaviour renders you unfit for the Tour or unfit for continuation once the Tour has begun. You also authorize us, The Globe and Mail and any third party they may authorize and their respective employees, agents and assigns, the rights to make audio and visual recordings of your voice, likeness and actions (the “Recordings”) for an unlimited number of uses in any and all media, whether now known or created later, including television, websites and newspapers throughout the world in perpetuity. The Recordings and all intellectual property contained within will be owned by us or The Globe and Mail as applicable to be used our discretion, including for all commercial, marketing and promotional purposes.

Cancellation & Changes
to the Itinerary

Your booking is conditional upon us receiving a minimum number of tour guests to operate the tour.

Worldwide Quest reserves the right to cancel any Trip prior to departure for any reason.

If a Trip is deemed to be rendered inoperable by Worldwide Quest before the date of departure due to Force Majeure (including but not limited to unforeseen circumstances such as war, civil unrest, disease outbreaks, public health emergencies, pandemics, political turmoil, catastrophic events and environmental disasters that may render the destination unsuitable or unsafe, or any other emergency of a comparable nature, the imposition of travel restrictions issued by a government organization, etc…) or as a result of a suspension of operations by Worldwide Quest or Worldwide Quest decides to cancel the tour for any other reason before the date of departure, and the cancellation is not caused by your fault or negligence, you have the option to receive: (a) a rescheduled The Globe and Mail Egypt Tour (if made available); or (b) a travel credit valued at 100% of monies paid for your Trip; or (c) a full refund of your tour cost, if your cancellation and interruption insurance does not apply.

Worldwide Quest is not responsible for any incidental expenses or consequential losses that you incur as a result of the cancelled booking including visas, vaccinations, non-refundable flights or rail, non-refundable car parking or other fees, loss of earnings, or loss of enjoyment, you will not be entitled to make any further claim for any injury, loss, expenses or damage (either direct or consequential) or for any loss of time or inconvenience that may result from cancellation (including but not limited to airline tickets, visa, passport, vaccination charges, airport or airline taxes.)

We will make commercially reasonable efforts to keep the Itinerary as it has been published; however, the final Itinerary may vary due to availability and factors beyond our control. Since schedules are determined many months in advance, changes in dates, accommodations, presenters or routes may become necessary prior to or during the tour. In this event, participants will have no right to a refund of the tour price. In the event the advertised journalist-host becomes unable to lead the tour for any reason, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to find a qualified substitute. The cost of the tour does not include any additional meals and accommodations due to delays, public health orders, emergency evacuation costs or transportation to and from your home to the departure point.

COVID-19 Notice

You acknowledge the circumstances in effect at the time of booking relating to COVID-19, namely, the World Health Organization’s declaration of a global coronavirus pandemic and related government-mandated travel restrictions, warnings, “lockdowns” and group size restriction, many of unknown duration, which have had, and may continue to have, an impact on travel services, and which may impact all or parts of the tour and itinerary, your ability to participate in the tour including complying with public health requirements (e.g., quarantine, etc). Any such impacts will be deemed to be beyond the reasonable control of Worldwide Quest and The Globe and Mail, and any expenses you incur due to such circumstances will be your responsibility. These expenses can include any costs incurred due to compliance with government public health orders, including quarantines, extended stays, meals and restrictions on all or part of the tour. Liability Release and Responsibility

Prior to participating in a tour, you will be required to complete a brief confidential personal information form. Completion of the personal information and/or the payment of a deposit is taken as acknowledgement of an agreement to Worldwide Quest’s terms and conditions. All services are organized by Worldwide Quest acting as agent for the owners, contractors and suppliers providing ground transportation, hotel accommodations and all other related travel services. Notice is hereby given that all arrangements on behalf of participants are made by Worldwide Quest on the sole condition that Worldwide Quest and The Globe and Mail (and our respective employees, agents and assigns) shall not be held responsible to you (or any third party) for any claims, actions, loss, penalties, costs or damage (including disappointment or loss of enjoyment) suffered directly or indirectly in connection with the tour including but limited to personal injury, death, accident, delay, loss, damage, or irregularity which may be occasioned through acts of any company and/or persons engaged in carrying out arrangements and services described herein or otherwise in connection herewith. The information contained in current brochures and websites is correct to the best of our knowledge, but Worldwide Quest and The Globe and Mail accepts no liability for any inaccuracies. Worldwide Quest reserves the right to alter any itinerary or service at any time without penalty to it. Any additional expense or cancellation cost shall be borne by the participant. Worldwide Quest reserves the right to withdraw or refuse any service to any participant at its discretion.

To the extent permitted by law, our and The Globe and Mail's maximum liability to you or any third party (including any claims of negligence) is limited to the tour price you have paid to us, and we are not liable to you, under any circumstances, for any loss of enjoyment, opportunity, profit, savings, revenue or interest or any other consequential or indirect, incidental, special or punitive loss, damage or expenses.

Privacy

Any information you provide to us will be governed in accordance with our privacy policy. Any information provided to any travel suppliers will be governed by the respective company’s privacy policy. Any information provided to The Globe and Mail will be subject to its privacy policy which can be found on its website.

General

The Globe and Mail, its employees, agents and assigns are third party beneficiaries to these terms, are entitled to the benefits and rights under these terms, as well as any limitations of liability, waivers of liability, assumptions of risks, releases, and any disclaimers of any rights or warranties contained in these terms, and may enforce the provisions to these terms as if it were a party to this agreement, and Worldwide Quest International also holds such benefits and rights as trustee and agent for and on behalf of each of The Globe and Mail, its employees, agents and assigns and may enforce those benefits and rights on behalf of each of them.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, and the laws of Canada applicable therein. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario and any courts competent to hear appeals from those courts. Any term which is, by its nature, intended to survive termination of these Terms survives termination. If any provision of this Agreement is found illegal or unenforceable, then (i) such provision is restated to reflect as nearly as possible the original intentions of the parties in accordance with applicable law or failing that, such provision is severed from this Agreement; and (ii) the other provisions remain in force.

Worldwide Quest International Inc. is a Canadian tour operator. All participants on our trips are covered by the terms of the Ontario Travel Industry Act (Worldwide Quest International Inc., Ontario License # 2667946).

Dates, itineraries, program details and costs are given in good faith based on information available at the time of posting, and subject to change.
